Our Area

Those of us who live in Highland Perthshire enjoy one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, with the added advantage that we are within easy reach of almost everywhere!  And if you live where I do, you are blessed with an ever changing Highland landscape of stunning beauty - a landscape I look forward to sharing with you.

Just a few miles down the road is Dunkeld, now a beautifully preserved historic small town, and in the past one of the most important political and religious locations in Scotland.  Its superb medieval cathedral, one of Scotland's great churches, bears witness to that importance, while Telford's Bridge shows how important Dunkeld remained as the entry point to the Highlands.  There's a huge amount to discover in and around Dunkeld and Birnam, and our local tourism association website has lots of information about places to discover and things to see and do.

In Strathbraan itself, the great joy is our environment and there are many ways to enjoy it.  There are several lovely walks close by, including historic passes used by drovers for centuries to take their cattle to market - these really are the traditional routes from the Highlands of Scotland to the Lowlands.  You can find information on these paths and links for more more detailed information on the same website above.  You can also walk along sections of the route of General Wade's road, built in the early 18th century to bring the Highlands under control.

For road cyclists we are an ideal location, as you have immediate access onto a network of quiet country roads and purpose built cycling routes, while for mountain bikers, there are fantastic trails available throughout Highland Perthshire.

Put simply, if you enjoy amazing scenery, fascinating history or just relaxing in a stunning environment, you'll find that leaving us at the end of your stay is much harder than arriving!
